In the fall of 2002, Linda Parkes and dava money began to explore the possibility of forming a new organization that would be able to provide a wide range of services to many people under one roof. Linda found a wonderful space in convenient Fairfax and dava and Linda began negotiations with the rental company right away. By June 2003 dava was able to move Creative Healing Institute from Vienna where it had been for 5 years to Fairfax. By July Linda was able to move Main Street Counseling into the shared space.
Linda and dava invited some of the best clinicians they know to consider joining our enterprise. Dr. Simone Lambert began part time in August of 2003 and moved to full time within a year. Gretchen Grindle, Ann Ward, and Linh Chau joined us as part time associates within several months. Kathy Elias came on board in our first year. All these wonderful associates continue to develop their independent practices under our roof. We also have a sister associate, Karen Blomberg, Th.M, who regularly sees clients downtown and co-facilitates classes and workshops at Fairfax. Each associate determines who she will see and which, if any, insurances she will work with. We support each associate in growing professionally into their fullest potential. We celebrate their participation in our enterprise and recognize how integral they are to our mission.

My role is to act as a magnifying glass and a guide. I assist you in clarifying realistic goals you are seeking, your priorities, and how to make those changes if you so choose to strive for them. Your role, as the client, is an active one. Therapy doesn’t happen to you. Changes from therapy happen because of you. When things become clearer, and the various forms of changes are identified, then together, we figure out the steps toward your objectives. Even though therapy is a collaborative process, ultimately, you decide whether or not it is worth it to you to make the changes.
